44th Ave W Interurban Trail & Bridge Overcrossing
Road and Bridge
Lynnwood, WA
Project size: 200 LF
Project duration: 6 months
Unique Features
The 44th Ave pedestrian bridge was constructed adjacent to Interstate 5 for the City of Lynnwood through the Washington State Department of Transportation. The bridge crosses over a high traffic area at 44th Avenue and also crosses a freeway entrance ramp. The project included an extension of Interurban Trail, along with wheelchair access to the Lynnwood Park and Ride. The bridge was constructed of 6’ diameter concrete piers installed in steel casings 60’ below grade. In lieu of concrete retaining walls, state-of-the-art precast wall panels were installed, which allowed for minimal installation costs and an accelerated schedule.
